Apple Music — Major Partnership Installation

Project overview
In 2017, Apple Music became a Major Partner of the event. To mark the occasion, Apple commissioned an experiential installation showcasing original artwork by artist Nathan Nankervis.

The creative concept
Nathan’s concept transformed the artwork into a large-scale cube. The simplicity of the finished form was fundamental to the design: the structure needed to appear seamless, with no visible edging, joins or construction details distracting from the artwork.

The challenge
The cube had to be engineered so it could be transported efficiently, assembled easily on site and installed within the available timeframe. At the same time, its modular construction could not compromise the precision or visual integrity of the finished piece.

Delivery
The project required close collaboration between the artist, fabricators and installation team to translate the creative concept into a practical structure. Careful material selection, prototyping and production planning ensured the cube could be transported and assembled simply while retaining the clean, seamless appearance central to Nathan’s vision.

The completed installation preserved the strength of the original concept while meeting the practical requirements of fabrication, transport and on-site assembly.
